The Red Line Series

As a victim of redlining (the systematic denial of various services to residents of racially specific neighborhoods or communities), this series abstractly depicts the arbitrary division of a person into two distinct sides – one worthy, and the other, questionable. The adverse effects of redlining last for generations and are only visible to that community. The practice, which was technically outlawed in 1968 still continues in other forms, i.e. higher interest rates imposed on home buyers of color, and algorithmic reinforcement of discriminatory practices. My goal is to highlight the issue as well as put a face on its victims.
